Passport 8500 something...great detector...paid for itself multiple times over!...the laser detector is a bit sensitive on it though..apparently cell phones trying to access the internet intefere with it and it goes off other then that its very accurate..

I know CLove and BJB are using good ones. Perhaps they'll chime in. They're illegal here and can be detected from what I understand. If I find out something has changed, I'd be in the market for one.

V1. Or the Passport, both are excellent. I personally have the V1, falses more than the Passport but the arrows more than make up for it. For a custom install check countryjoycrafts.com for a rear view mirror mount and invisicord.com for wiring that'll allow you to quick connect to the review mirror for power. This is the setup I have and it's very cool (sorry no pix, gotta take some).

Escort Passport X8500 is what I use too. Great detector. The only other one I would consider is the Valentine V1. It pricier and it doesn't come in a blue display. My buddies run the Valentine and we always pick up the same signals.

I have the passport 8500 - has saved my ass multiple times. And the smartcord is great for quick muting.

Sorry bro, can't find a picture and I'm tired of looking, one day I gotta take a couple good pix of mine. Regardless, it is a very cool, custom set up that's simple and looks stock.
Prices, good question, I think the V1 you have to get from them but I believe you can find the Passport online at different discounters.

V1 seems to be a favorite. I have owned the k40 with oem installation on the last 2 cars I've had. The only thing I do not like are is the sensativity
to the road signs that are in Illinois.

I have the Passport 9500i and love it! It has GPS in it so you can hit the mute button 2x and lock out the constant flase signals you get from stores and whatnot. Both the V1 and 9500i are great. It was a toss up for me but I'm glad I went with the 9500i b/c of driving around this big ass town I live in! It also flashes your speed on the screen when it first goes off which is nice. You're not hunting at the speedo. They have a new one out the 9500iX I think that alerts you for cameras! Either one is great like I said, just the 9500i has a lot more features and alot less false signals.

Cool, only one problem...where can I mount it that a cop wouldn't see when I'm driving by?? That looks like it's intended for the dash or mirror no?

I'm rocking the Passport 9500i. I LOVE IT. It even tells your speed with its GPS system.

maybe you could sit it on the dash, drivers side all the way in the corner, and put a little peice of tint over the lights just to take the edge off.. hell i dont know im just throwing out some ideas..

Milan, are you not allowed to run a detector where you live? In the US, I think they're only illegal in Virginia and Washington, DC.

No, we're not. They have the detector-detectors here and ticket you if they find one.

Not so fast buddy boy!! :tongueout:
I have remote mounted Bell Sti's They work very good and it is a very clean install.

Personally have a V1 hardwired into all 3 cars. The arrows make all the difference in the world! Since I've had I've only been ticketed once because I silenced it early then ignored the full strength signal warning. Also they are real easy to hard wire, all you need is a piece of phone cord from radio shack. If you have the locking tab up, positive is the second pin and ground is the third pin, 1 and 4 are dead.
Milan, aren't you in Jersey? I drive through Jersey everyday with my V1 and have never had a problem. In fact my one ticket was on 42 coming out of Turnersville, the cop looked at the radar detector and shrugged, never said a word about it. That was back before it was hardwired, so it was very obvious with the cord hanging and whatnot.

Passport 8500 Hardwired. Had it for almost 9 years now, and it's just starting to show it's age. None of the buttons work anymore. I can send it in to get completely refurb'd for $50 or they will give me $30 twoards a new one....I wonder what I should do :ROTFLMAO:

I've had a couple different brands and Passport 8500's in both red and blue. I now have a V1 and wonder why I had anything else. The arrows are a godsend. No more wearing myself out looking forward, behind, to the side, trying to see where the cops are with those beep, beep, beep only detectors. OK, they're better than nothing, but the V1 is number 1 in my book.

I totally agree, the arrows are what sets the V1 apart and it's really true ... once you try it you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.
Oh and Milan's in Canada somewhere, not really sure where but he's our "friendly Canadian nemesis" ... or so he says, lol!
