I'll just say that Newark has a new found respect for Paxton's charger, I'll let him tell the race story (surprised its not already here). I can say that after the race everyone in the parking lot was asking "is that Charger really that fast????" -and- "its really not on spray?"

From my point of view I am impressed, I knew it would run good but.... DAMN!

Well...you beat me to it Justin. I was going to post my story even though I got pulled by the C5 Z06. I went out to the local race spot and had a guy set-up a high-speed roll between me and Joel who has an C5 Z06 with headers,cat-less mids and CAI if I remember correctly. We went out on I-95 and raced about 4 times in total from about 50MPH to about 120MPH. I got pulled on each time, but kept getting pulled right off the bat(about 1 car) after he honked 3 times cause I left it in drive and everytime I hit it it took about a second before it kicked down into 2nd gear. That's the one thing I hate about racing in Drive...that fuckin delay before it kicks down. We talked afterwards and maybe we'll run again. I need to have it kickdown and takeoff at the same time he takes off to make it a bit closer, but I know he'd still would walk me though. I'm also thinking that maybe I should try to use autostick and drop into 2nd gear so I can take off immediately. The only reason I don't do this is that I would be screamin away at around 4K or so in 2nd till we went. Its a loss and I have a new found respect for the C5 Z06. All the guys I've met up at the Elkton McD's have been cool and its been fun hanging around with these guys. Just glad noone got arrested!!!!!hahahaha

And thanks Justin for the cool post...I'll have to take you out in the car sometime if you want to go for a ride.

No problem, I was surprised you hung as well as you did. I was more than impressed with that big 'ole Hemi! And so was everyone else when they heard he couldn't walk away from you like they thought. His vette went 11.7 @ 118 consistently for reference. I was pretty far back when you ran most of the races but it didn't look like he was pulling much once you got downshifted and moving. I think that if you'd put it in 2nd with the auto stick and could hit it at the same time it might be a little closer. Right after the first race, chris called me (passenger in the vette) and was like "that thing ain't slow! for a big, heavy ass car it rolls!"

Needless to say I think Newark has a new and much needed respect for the SRT8 now.

Now If only I could keep a F%@^ing trans in my civic maybe we could try it again.

I heard you were out and saw another red srt charger pulled over. Cops probably thought he was us, seeing as how we went from elkton to the track and back in about 8 minutes. The "VW" people (Mike) said that they were a couple miles back when a state trooper went past them like they were stopped.

It was more then fair, I don't think Chris or Joel had any idea that charger would stay that close to him. I would say Joel only got him by 1 maybe 2 cars at the most. We gotta teach Steve how to use the auto stick and try for the jump!

I was up in fair hill with my buddy brian(the kid I was with steve) and I wish I knew you were coming up....I was COOKING down 218 I wish I was able to see the run. But I came back....I jumped down onto elkton road to get to kirkwood to find matt....and I say a inferno SRT8 pulled over infront of the truck stop by the maryland/delaware line.

I usually like to run it in Drive for high speed runs cause it seems to kick down real hard into 2nd gear and take off, but in this kind of scenario with a car that's faster than mine, then it seems that I definitely need to be in 2nd gear manually and go from there. I'll try it next time. I would've stayed closer to the vette, but he still would slowly pull me without a doubt. The Z06 with some mods on it is definitely very fast. I don't know how much more power its making with the headers,no cats and CAI, but I'd say its alot quicker than stock. For my car being 900lbs. heavier, I think I made a pretty good race of it. Also...the cam I'm running in my car is a low-end torque cam. Your HHP cam has more topend than mine does, so I'd think your set-up would do better than mine up top.

I agree, These Hemi's seem to love nitrous! I'll say from previous experience though, a "small" shot is never enough. I started with a 50 on the truck and instantly moved up to a 75 then a 100 within 2 nights in newark. I ordered the 150 jets (most people say that is the limit on a 360) and never looked back... until I had the solenoids freeze open and literally blow the hood off. But don't let that scare you, I'm sure it was a freak coincidence.

I'll check into the nitrous set-ups, but in reality I don't see doing anything real soon since I promised my wife I'd leave the car alone for awhile. The only thing I see in the real near future is getting the true 85MM TB when it comes out and selling my ported BT TB. That might be worth a few more HP. Also been thinking about dumping the DUB CAI and getting that JLT carbon-fiber one. It's got bigger intake tubing, bigger filter element and its carbon fiber instead of stainless steel.

Milan's set-up and mine should trap about the same...maybe a mile per hour or so difference. I've seen H/C/I cars trap anywhere between 115-117 with varying vendors heads/cams, etc. There's alot of action around this area if your willing to take the chances. There's also alot of fast cars around that I haven't seen yet, but have heard about. I believe if we would've taken off exactly at the same time, he definitely wouldn't have pulled a car on my right off the bat like he did. He would've just slowly pulled me...which is an indication of his high trap speeds. That vette is definitely alittle quicker up top than my car is. Joel's car is an '01.. which surprises people... Just long tube, catless mids and a vararam cold air, No tune...YET. Hopefully within the next week or so he should have his new cam then a tune will be mandatory.

Something still doesn't make sense to me, especially since it's an 01' Z06. That thing shouldn't be that fast with those mods on it. Is it possible that it could've been tuned by the previous owner(s)? Once he gets the cam and tune done...it's going to be nasty!

Its possible but we're not 100% sure. It seems as though he is running about what other ones are running with similar mods. Least that is what he says. Cam, tune and FAST intake manifold w/ throttle body and he should see about 450 at the wheels
