Last night, I was entering the hwy and the Jeep started surging a bit, like I was stabbing and releasing the throttle, it stopped, but "service parking assist" came up on the DIC. I figured it was a fluke, so I turned PA off, then back on and Jeep was fine. Today, I leave from a stoplight and the Jeep surges again..then the CEL illuminated. I checked all the gauges and everything is fine, after the surging, it accelerates normally and no other issues. I scanned it with the Predator when I got it home, but no codes were found, I hit clear anyways , and now the CEL is gone. WTF? Anyone have any suggestions? The only thing I've done recently is replace the IAT sensor in the cai elbow.( the original had the "gate" broken off from around the sensor). You guys got any suggestions, do I need to unhook the battery for awhile then reconnect?

If it was a IAT problem that would throw a code the whole time.....idk bump

The reason I mention the IAT is that I've read that it makes the computer go a little nutty if you disconnect it/ replace it without disconnecting the battery. Anyways, anyone have any input?

Can you get the rpms up past 2500 when this occurs? Sounds like a PCM/TCM problem....I've heard problems like that addressed by replacing the electronic shift control module of all things.

Was it bucking like someone who doesn't know how to drive a stick shift? Mine did that a while ago. We replaced the crank sensor and it hasn't done it since.

Exact same thing my my winter minivan lol. Swapped it out and it was good. I think some of the Jeeps have a known issue with this PA Cel.

Yeah, it was bucking pretty good. Where is the said sensor (crank) located and is it something I can do myself or is it a shop issue?

The crank sensor is on the right (passenger) side of the engine on the bottom. You pretty much have to remove the starter to get to it.

If you wrench, you can definitely do it yourself. I've had 2 or 3 LX starters out this year already.
