Posted this on the red site, but figured I'd get more insight over here....
Recently I have noticed that when I am driving, more specifically at slow speeds in 1st gear (ie: at a stopsign with a line of cars infron of me) and I give a little gas to move then let off to coast, I hear a clunk and feel a slight, and I mean very slight, rocking motion under the car. Also, if in autostick and approaching a light or stopsign, when slowing down and almost to a stop when the car automatically goes down into 1st or 2nd, there is also the same clunk and a very slight rocking under the car.
Could this be a sign of the tranny, t-case, or rear diff possibly wearing out and on the way to failure?
It is a new sound, and it does worry me a bit. For reference, I did have a weak battery and when it happend, my AWD was not working for the drive to work (all of 7 miles) and to test it I did get on it from a light and just spun the rear tires.
I have also noticed it seems like the rear wheels are slipping quite a bit more before the fronts bite when taking off hard whether in D or in autostick.
