Read a thread on how some have stated the 3.55 gears are very nice for the LX's and 3.23's aren't bad either...but now that CMJ Performance is out of it, anyone hear if Richmond or another vendor are trying to pump some out? Wonder if Builder Bill has looked at this yet....
You guys hear anything?

Its great that someone is finally making gears for the LX's, but for me and I'm sure some might agree, it doesn't make sense for those of us with major traction issues. Just think about trying to launch your car against the stall with shorter gears on street tires on the street. Gears on the other hand would work very well at the track with some DR's, but if your car is only street driven like mine, then I don't think it makes a whole lot of sense right now.

I put 4.11 Yukons in the Cobra. Being a stick, it made 1st gear pretty much useless, however, I absolutely loved them! In my oppinion, the taller the better! 3.55s in our SRTs? It will lower the top end, but I don't do 170 that much anyway. I would much rather me real quick and real fast, then kinda quick and extremely fast!! :racing:

I agree, I can't see me finding the oppprtune time to go 170+ anywhere...so 1/4mile ET's are what I'm interested in hehehe.

Exactly!! So, know for the million dollar question:
How to get the power to the road.
I don't know if it's the weight of the LXs or the tiny tires in back, or what. But I roast the shit out of my 245s now! If we go up to taller gears, Woooo!!
What's the secret on these cars? On my other car, it was frame work, QA1 adjustables, stiffining up the IRS, big fat tiers, and better bushings...

Well, it's not pretty and it can be a pain in the ass. At the track I run 17 inch rims with some 275 Mickey Thompsons...I may have to go to an 18 with gears or even a 19? IDK. On the street I'll be widening mystock rims to fit a 305 Nitto 555r. I would most likely be changing them each summer though. lol...told you it wasn't pretty lol.

Stevo and I are definitely close enough to each other to make a meeting at Englishtown happen. I'm sure Ohio would be a hike for both of us.:sad2:

There's no definitive answer to that question. There's alot of heavily modified LX's running on the stock half-shafts on street tires without any half-shaft breakage. Slap on a set of DR's and its a crap shoot as to when they'll give out, but the odds increase greatly with DR's even on a bone stock car. There has been some people that've broken half-shafts on street tires on bone stock cars, so ya never know. This is the best info I can give ya.

Troof. The numbers are small for stock vehicles in terms of what the forums have shown but as soon as you slap on some DR's...better be prepared. Now, having said that, a lot of guys have used DR's without the HD halfshafts and rolled out of the hole with no breakage...yet. If you're interested in a set one day, RDP Motorsport (who has a section here) is testing theirs right now and they appear to be a much better price than the DSS ripoff people had to buy into.
