Yah,yah,yah....before anyone tells me to just go out and spend $1300 for the Corsa or Zoomers exhaust I want to know if there's any mufflers out there that I can swap-in in any which way or form to replace my Bassani muffler before I fuckin' go crazy with the damn drone!!! I went on Corsa's website and they do make a series of mufflers by themselves, but they don't make one big enough in diameter for the 6.1...the bigest they make is 2.5". Is there any other alternatives that anyone knows about that's not going to cost me an arm, a leg...or worst yet my freakin' marriage???LOL All semi-intelligent replies are welcome along with some thread jacking as always!

I've got the Dynomax/ Thrush mufflers on my R/T. No drone and a little raspy off idle. Sorry no sound bites yet. I got them at Sumitt. I still have my Reso's though. They are the Flowmaster look-a-likes. But they are throaty not echo sounding like a flowmaster.

Corsa

Edit: You asked... if they don't drone with a 6.7L 408 they shouldn't drone with a 6.1L

I was being sarcastic...the Corsa system is awesome for the 6.1 and doesn't drone. I've driven a car with it and its what I want. The problem is I can't afford to drop $1300 on a new cat-back so I'm askin' if there's any alternatives to getting a new cat-back like some aftermarket mufflers I can swap in.

No hurting my feelings, I wear the same big girl panties everyday.

You might look on ebay for some corsa cutoffs. I wish they sold just the mufflers... I'd have a set. My magnaflows drone like a mofo at lower rpms. I don't DD the SS but when I do drive it, I try and keep it at WFO! Best way to keep the drone away. Good Luck!

Corsa does sell a series of mufflers, but they don't sell anything that's bigger than 2.5". I called them and they don't sell the mufflers only from the 6.1 system...big surprise there!LOL My car is my DD and I find myself constantly trying to run it at higher rpms just so I don't go crazy with the drone. I guess you learn from your mistakes...should've bought the damn Corsa when I had the chance. I'm an ahole!!!!!:D

They drone like a mofo on the 6.1...trust me!!! I had a magnaflow cat-back on my car when I bought it and couldn't stand it...drones just as bad as my Bassani does. Actually my Bassani was liveable until I got the Kooks LT/mid-pipes, now there almost unbearable at times!!!! :tantrum1:

stop your bitching about drone already! haha

here is the settlement with your wifey.

new cc = no drone with corsa

keeping your credit rating = suffer with a bit of drone and enjoy high gears in using the autostick.

thats what i do if i have a girl or my mom in the car that cant stand the drone....but usually i have the stereo up so that eliminates the prob.

ps, dynamat doesnt do shit. i did my whole undercarriage and interior on my stroked trans am and still had the drone inside the cabin.

I used this on my truck with ported heads, cam, LT headers and it worked great it has a built in resonator they also sell a free flowing resonator you can add to help. The Aeroturbine 3030 sounds SICK as well

Flowmaster super 44s. Zero drone in my CSRT8. I tore out the resonator too. You can buy just the mufflers...

These mufflers look promising...I checked out the website and they have a great design. So how was the interior drone with these mufflers on your truck you had?

I guess I'm startin' to be a whiney bitch huh?LOL The only way to keep the drone at bay is to autostick the car and keep the rpms up as you stated. I don't mind doing this...hahahaha, but its not great on gas milage.

They've got a great sound to them, that's for sure. So at a steady rpm like around 1300-1500rpms there's no discernible drone in the car, just a deep rumble sound? That's really what I'm looking for here. I don't mind a deep muscular sound of the motor, just not the horrible monotone drone that freakin' kills your ears and senses.

I cannot guarantee how it will work on your car, honestly no one can it's just trial and error that is why I went thru so many mufflers by the time I was done I could have bought a full catback. My suggestions save your $$$ and buy the Corsa and be done with it

That's true and those Aero mufflers are $189 a piece so it'll probably cost about $400 shipped plus install. Hopefully I can find a used Corsa cat-back sometime in the future. Thanks.

If I can get those mufflers for half the cost and just ship them to you would you be interested? If yes get the Model #'s of the mufflers you want and get them to me. My supplier stocks that brand.... I'll see what I can do.

I'm not sure what I want to do know. When I get a chance I'll get the part numbers for you and if you still want you can get me a price on them from your supplier. If you can get a great deal like you said then I might have to try these mufflers out. Thanks!

Ya, I've got a 3" all the way back from the headers. I believe the mufflers were the 3030XL's...which are 3" inlet/outlet. The site did say that they were backordered though. Let me know what ya find out.

Actually I autostick the car all the time, but when I don't want to I usually do anyways since I can't stand to hear that damn drone! Actually I probably average about 10MPH the last time I checked...trust me...I've got a major problem with my right foot as it always seems to find the bottom of the floorboard alot!LOL

That's a hell of a deal and cheap enough if its not what you need its not gonna hurt your pocket book or at least add one of Aero's resonators

DBTBSS
12-10-08, 01:54.22 PM
Those are the 3030XL 18". Do you have a # on those resonators Wade? I'll see what those are going for also. You could always use a short Magnaflow also as a resonator, I can get great pricing on Magnahoes also.....

I have lowered a few chargers before but did not pay attention to how much room there was for a 14" long resonator out back? Magnaflow makes some that are 6" long. But, like she said... Longer is better and with a 3" girth she should be happy and drone free!

I believe Aero suggests putting the resonator before the muffler?? But I could be wrong

A quick question about the x-pipe or in my case the built-in x-crossover in my Bassani muffler. If I remove my Bassani muffler and go with the Aero's I'm going to lose the x-crossover...is there any major reason for concern? Supposedly from what I read about x-pipes is that they're supposed to help elimanate drone and help exhaust scavenging. The Aero's don't have a built-in x crossover so I wouldn't have this anymore? Any thoughts about this guys. The ear plugs on the other hand is a great idea...and cheap!!! Smartass! And by the way...my Bassanni has 2 resonators located at the back of the system with attached tips.

I'd put the X-pipe in front of the mufflers. Just an example:http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM-642130&N=700+4294923429+4294921571+115&autoview=sku
