Yup. FINALLY!!! Taking the Charger down for a few passes in Montgomery, AL this coming Sunday. I don't have drag radials. I have a PI 3200 converter. Any tips and advice for a total drag strip rookie???!! :D

Don't wait for the green light......put the pedal to the metal when you think its gonna light up!!:thumbsup:There's no shame in a red light run...unless you go on the staging lights.....

Don't break anything or it'll cost you an arm and a leg :obscene: :ROTFLMAO:

On regular radials, no burnout though, right? I don't want to just sit and spin at the start line. How should I start? Stall to what RPM?

Don't worry about breakin anything on radials....go ahead and do a burnout to get the practice in and start low rpm on your stall til you get the feel of it, then gradually up the antey. Reaction time is the most important though....

So you are running on 20" street tires? If so drop the psi to @22 in the rear and inflate the fronts to @45 psi. Do a quick burnout to clean off the tires.

yeah, do a burnout. you wont be able to launch from stall though, you'll just spin.

I'm going to come on out an say it...you've got waaay tooo much HP for street radials my brotha so you'll have to figure out how to feather the gas and not light the tires up. I would suggest you do at least brake stall the car alittle, maybe to 1500rpms or so. I say that, cause if you flash the converter and it stalls upto 3200rpms and lets go...you'll fry the tires into oblivion! Stall it at the lights, let off the brake, roll out some and then quickly push down the gas pedal. Easier said than done, so you'll have to figure it out on your own. I on the other hand...have never had much luck brake stalling the car on street radials on the street without spinning fairly hard. Good luck brotha and let us know how she did!

ill just say what i said before....
also keep in mind that our boy is on low profile 22"s
brudda your gonna have a hard time with those asanti's hahahahaha
you'll be fine big daddy...and yeah the water box is about 20 yards in front of the tree...maybe a little more...water wont help you....
the first time your up...just know its your first time and dont worry about it...
biggest thing for me was....
DONT WORRY ABOUT REACTION TIME!
if you have a .001 reaction time or a 2.303 reaction time...your 1/4 mile time is the same....clock doesnt start till you break the line....so make sure you are ready to go cause that lights gonna hit you quick your first time....especially if theres lots of people there as they try to keep it movin pretty good....at least they do in etown...
other thing on a similar note...do NOT pay attention to the guy in the other lane...your not running him heads up...and you generally have no say on who your running....
first car i ever ran against at englishtown was a 1975 Lincoln town car that ran like a 23 second 1/4 lol...the next one...was an 8.xx turbo mustang....just worry about your run!
you'll get the feel of the difference in grip between the track and the street pretty quick...hopefully youll get more than 3 runs in lol....
your whole run is gonna be in the first 100 feet....cause as they said...after that your gonna be mashed....so key is learning how your setup is gonna deal with the initial umph of power lol....
DONT WORRY ABOUT THE FUCKING REACTION TIME....its meaningless unless your running heads up....
just do what choo godda do and have a good time and get her home in one piece lol

K. Thanks boys. Sounds like this will be my plan -
Quick burnout first time up.
Leave on the last yellow.
Brake stall to 1500-ish, and stomp it at about 80 feet or so.
THANKS GUYS!!! Any other advice, let me know. I know I shouldn't be nervous, but I kinda am. I know it's silly, but I'm all anxious inside, lol. Thanks again fellas. :D

Don't stomp on the gas, quickly ease into it. The more you do it the faster you'll get at it. Traction is #1.

Ride out to silver dollar raceway nov. 21st party and camp out then get plenty of seat time on the 22nd. MCE is hosting this event....I think trevor made at least 15 passes. The last event that we hosted down there was a two day event and got over 800 passes in!! Come on over and party and race....we're a bunch of cool cats just like over here...Just ask Jon(Dragginwaggin)no drama just fun and racing!

If you are taking your Charger it will be very frustrating on street tires. You will be much slower than you think you should be. I can almost guarantee you will either 1) want drag radials or slicks immediately afterwards or 2) not drag race anymore.
I would recommend babying it off the line as you'll be faster than if you spin.
I'd normally recommend trying to keep your motor cool but in your case I think heat soak will actually help keep you from spinning the tires.
I wouldn't expect to see anything better than mid 12s without drag radials.
Sorry to be a downer but I don't want you to be surprised. Good luck and let us know how you did.
I've got a buddy who has a 6.1L Charger with a supercharger and he makes about your power/torque. I let him borrow my Nitto 20" drag radials on stock rims and he still smoked them all the way down the track on one run. He got beat by a standard R/T Challenger that dialed in at 14.7.
Here is the video. His run is it is at 5:40 -

The MCE site is similar to this one but more active , sad to say a lot less porn though. They do have a bunch of girls over there though (some without a sense of humor).

Yeah, I'm hoping for low 12's. I know it's an 11 second car. But on street tires, I'll be stoked with low 12's.
And forget MCE, I have enough going on with just this site and the C, lol.

Chase, please please please post up how things go. Above all, have a good time and don't sweat the time.
I'd be very interested in knowing how difficult it is gonna be to hook up that monster on street tires.

Youll need a helmet also Chase...just dont push it too hard @ the light....street radial 22 low pros arent the greatest for traction...

With the right set-up Chase...your car is a low to mid 11 car. Just look at the times the other 426 guys who race consistently are getting and its around 11.3-11.5 in good air. Traction is the key and with you running on heavy 22's with low profile street tires...I'd say mid to low 12's is about all your going to see. I haven't raced my car either, cause knowing myself, I'd be upset not being able to get the times I know the car has in it. Go race it, have some fun and if you enjoy it...spend the money to get a set of 17" rims with a nice set of DR's and get those low to mid 11 passes!

I think you'll be frustrated Chase depending on the temps this weekend. On street tires, even if I grandma it out of the hole, and even 60+ feet out, when I floor it....it BEGINS spinning and doesn't let up through to second where you experience the dreaded bog and a crap run! lololol. But hey, it'll be fun regardless. If you think you're a little nervous now, wait until you stage hahahaha. But don't let that scare you off. After your first run where smoke is billowing out of your wheel wells halfway down the track, you come back and think, "Ok, so a little less gas" on the next one and will feel a lot more at home giving it another whirl. Like Stevo said, screw the guy beside you and your reaction time. You'll want practise just getting the car to stop creating smoke shows on each run lmao. And good luck buddy!

You can look at it this way Chase, This could help you decide on future mods or future use of your car.

unless hes racing a lot more often then its probably not gonna do him much good....
I am getting a set just cause i barely keep the tires from spinning when pulling off from a stop light LOL
