So most of you know my story. Had Ed at LMS build a 426 for my Charger. I was new to the whole forum thing and didn't know shit about shit. Originally I went there for a CMR tune, which he was unable to do at the time we set up due to him tuning a GTO. Even that was bullshit, he didn't know how to use the software. From there he started texting me about doing a line lock, heads/cam etc. Then came the idea of building a 426 that would make 500 hp at the wheels. Fuck yeah! Sounded great.. So I start paying for all of this and was supposed to have my car back in 2 months for the LX Nats. Didn't happen because he ported through one of my heads and tried to fix it with an epoxy.. Then I'm stuck buying new heads that he didn't even fully reimburse me for. He installed my torque converter incorrectly and destroyed the tranny. Plus he never reimbursed me for the torque converter that I paid for yet he sold to another customer! My favorite thing was how he welded a GM throttle body to my intake manifold which caused the car to surge while cruising long distances. I still went to the LX nats and even spent my entire time at his booth talking to people and shooting the shit, you could say we were friends. It's hard to believe that he can fool people into thinking he is an engine builder. His previous job was at Lingenfelter as a salesman. After 6 months I got my car back and it had 2 rods let loose within a week. The car caught fire and burned to the ground. Not only was I out the money I paid him, I was out all of the money spent on other mods. On top of that I was left paying Chrylser $6,000 to pay the car off. I had GAP insurance but it doesn't car "pre-existing" damage jus like my insurance company. I'm not the only person this has happened to either. He built a 426 for a guy from Virginia as well, same result-blown motor. He tried to build 4 shortblocks for a TrailBlazer ownder. They both finally gave up on him. How does this shop stay in business? I've had numerous people contact me with horror stories just like mine. I'm sure some of them will pop up here to share their stories. Lesson to be had.. Be careful where you go to have work done and always carry a fire extinguisher.

Sad to say, you're not the first. This company has screwed over many people on LS1Tech as well.

So not only did I lose the car(and new KWV2's, powdercoated Chally wheels w/new V's, HID's w/ Halos, Borla catback, American Racing headers, plus money spent on the build) I also lost my high credit score. It dropped 140 points by the time I paid Chrysler off. I had 0% interest on the car and by the time my insurance company paid Chrysler it made all but the last year of payments. So when I got my statements they said amount due zero. Reguardless I'd still mail in a couple of hundred bucks. I then receive a letter from Chrysler stating that the full amount is due. I called and was told to just keep paying what I could. A month later they sent it to collections! I cashed in some investments to pay the assholes off and my credit still reflects the discharge.

Any way you can sue them and have you talked to lawyer?

Need quite a bit to get a lawyer then there is no guarantee that I can get any money. I would win the Case though. It was under warranty

So, that was your beautiful Charger in the pics? As sad as it is, those were some great shots so you must be a generally composed fella.

I was so composed that I left my $500 prescription sunglasses in the car along with the diablo and my checkbook. Imagine watching your dream slowly burn in front of your eyes while waiting for the fire department to show up.

Everytime I see those pics, I just cringe! I can't imagine spending all that money and having that happen. I still can't believe they didn't make things right with the motor...hell, it caused you to lose the car also. I'd at least talk to a lawyer about it and see what they say about a possible case against LMSpeed. I'll say this...I'm very fortunate to have HHP only about 10 minutes away from my house. They maybe a small company, but they stand behind their builds and take care of their customers.

I am very sorry to hear about your experience with Late model speed/Ed Potter ...i know the guy that has the 07 trailblazer ss ....he contracted with late model speed to do a forged shortblock in his awd 07 supercharged tbss .
He gave it to them on dec 4th of 08 and he was supposed to get it back on Dec 23rd 08 ...he never got it back until the end of Jan 09 and i went with him to pick it up and it was backfiring when you would stab the gas and it was pulling timing like crazy , ed said it was bad gas that he put in it and for us to take it and fill up with the gas i always use which we did and it still was poping and backfiring like crazy ....the other issue was that the owner of the tbss asked that he keep the CR at 10.9:1 and he agreed to do that and when we asked him what compression ratio did he set it at ed said 9.0:1 which waqs rediculous since that little maggie 112 would not make more than 7lbs with the smallest pulley on it ...anyways we took it back to lmspeed and the motor blew when ed was tuning it a week later ...then there were 3 more shortblocks after that and 4 more months without the tbss and ...each time ed rebuilt the shortblock the bearings would fry .....finally after 6 months my boss talked with ed and ed had no idea what to do next so he told my boss that he would agree to giving him back some money but ed wanted the shortblock back that was in the tbss ...my boss agreed to it and he waited another 2 months and not a dime was given to my boss and then ed asked my boss if he could give it one more shot at fixing it right and my boss said FINE i just want my tbss back and running...that was at the end of aug 09 that ed said he would order the parts and he would have the tbss back in my bosses hands up and running in 3-5 weeks and not one thing has happened yet and my boss is livid ...over 10 months and it is still not fixed ...i cannot believe that this lmspeed/late model speed / ed potter is still doing this type of shody workmanship...I told my boss to go to the State consumer protection agency , State Insurance commisioner, State attorney general ,
Federal Trade commision and get all of these other guy's to send there letters and complaints and get this guy to make things right for all these people . I hope all you guy's get together and make this ed potter do the right thing. My boss is the nicest friggin guy you will ever meet and he has tried to be very understanding and he is still getting jacked around ...good luck to all of you guy's ...oh by the way they also drilled through his brand new cowl hood when they were installing the shocks for the new cowl hood . They also took and boxed up his supercharger because my boss had to buy a slightly larger supercharger to make more boost and the guy's at LMSpeed packaged it up and sent it to it new owner and the supercharger was in pieces when it got to ots destination and my boss had to pay magnuson to repair for the guy that bought his old Magnuson MP112 supercharger .. I know my boss is still trying to be patient after 10 months + of BS but he is finally coming to his senses and if LMSpeed does not give him money back or build his shortblock properly asap ..I know for sure he will be going after him with a vengence .

I can't look at those pics anymore! Gives me bad vibes and it was Inferno Red also. Makes you think about all the money we have in our rides and losing it all. I'm sure my insurance wouldn't cover the 10K in mods I've got in mine.

Good luck with all the BS you are dealing with.

I just hope and pray to god that this late model speed /ed potter is getting what he deserves . The only thing bad about a situation like these is , if the guy and his company are in major dept and have no cash , it is highly likely that everyone that he has done these terrible things too would win a judgement against him but as far as collecting the money .....is a whole different ball game .

I hope all of you see to it that this guy is out of business if this is the way he does biusiness.

I have one foot in this business. I hear horror stories all the time, and from big names too. One in particular is a big time Viper guy.
I see mods yielding 200 -300 HP & nothing is done to the rest of the drive train. Fuel systems are pumped up to deliver, but nothing is modified to assure that 40psi of fuel doesn't go spraying all over the hot engine. stock clutches that are going to toast in a few thousand miles. They all say the same thing "oh this drive train will take HP" yeah but for how long? Turning over your $40k car to these ppl is playing Russian roulette. You cant sell the car or trade it in.

My heart truly goes out to u man, big props for not losing your temper and giving that guy what he deserves. I know if it was me, im so hot tempered id probably douse his car gasoline and light a match to it with him in it and call it even.
