today we were doing a site recon on our quads, and i did the dumbest thing i could have done. i stood up. at 60mph. about the windscreen. my hat (blackhawk hat i've been wearing on every deployment for the past 5 years) flew off along with my oakleys (2nd pair that i've lost now) in the middle of the street. i didn't have comms with the other guy i was riding with, so we rode out to the site and i told him "radio back and tell them i dropped my hat.". we went all the way back to where it flew off and sure enough it was gone. i wasn't about to stop in the middle of a village in trashcanistan all by my lonesome in a busy marketplace to get my hat and glasses. stupid jingles probly didn't even let them touch the ground. if i see some dumb little kid wearing oakley's i'm going to imbed them into his face when i kick it in. so now i'm out my favorite hat and my SECOND pair of replacement sunglasses. FML. oh, that and it's like 40 degrees out, so now i've just compounded one cold on top of another. now i have no voice AND an incredibly sore through. double FML.
