If so, how? I figured besides ending up dead before I'm 60 and all the other good reasons, I can save between 2-3 G's a year which would be nice lol. I'm not going to read about why I should quit soooo... :covers eyes:

Quitting is for losers. I love smokey treats but I know I too should quit. Considering that I bronchitis is another good reason to quit. We should have a poll to see what the best smokes are!!

Sounds good. I remember smoking American cigarettes and they all smelled kind of funny to me...maybe just different. But, when we were in FL and Mexico and stuff, I'd always buy Marlborough Lights. So, you have bronchitis? Does that mean you cough like Marky with a sausage at his tonsils? Right now, the king pin Cdn smoke is Players Light or DuMarier's. Have you ever tried to quit?

I quit for over a year using the pill Chantix. It's not cheap, about $150/month unless insurance covers it, but damn did it work. I was pretty much smoke free within 3 months, and took one more month of the pills, then I would occassionally have one on the weekends from a friend if we were out drinking, but during the week, nothing.

Then, I had a really REALLY bad day. I bombed a final, it was 15* out, snowing, and some dumb bitc# backed into my Acura and didn't leave a note. So I was waiting for the cops for over an hour to take a report. That pretty much did it for me. I went and bought a pack, lasted me about 10 days, then it slowly went downhill from there over the next 4 months until I was back to normal at a pack a day.

I would like to quit again, but honestly I just dont feel like it. I know I will quit when I'm good and ready to, but now is just not the time unfortunately.

I have quit several times. Then I realize that I LOVE smoking. I have been hacking blood every morning this week, its a first for me. While I was really sick I had enough self-control to not smoke. Marlboro Mediums are so tasty!! You have smokes called Players light?? that is too funny!!!

I smoked from Freshman year of HS to my Junior Year of College...at the begginning I smoked Marlboro Reds or whatever I could get my hands on, then switched to Camel Lights, then Marlboro Lights, and then Back to Camels and finally smoked Parliaments for my first 2 years of college...I stopped because once I moved into my house with my friends I didnt want my room to stink like an ash tray and was glad I did- yea, I put some weight on after smoking but it came off eventually...when I stopped Parliaments were $5.10/pack...now there 7+...one of the best decisions I ever made.

I have been quit for 11 months now and lost 65 pounds at the same time. You have to want to. I tried before when I didnt want to and it was difficult. You have to be to the point where you are over smoking and the smell. I stopped smoking one place at a time. I first stopped smoking in the car, then at home and finally at work. I dont miss it one bit.

How the hell did you lose all the weight too? Did you get back into the gym and start eating right as well?

Atkins diet and lots of will power. I dont go to the gym but I am fairly physically active at work. I am over 2 1300 degree furnaces so I do my fair share of sweating and probably walk 10 miles a day. I know people will say thats not excersice but WTF ever. Tell my body that when I come home sore every day. I am 5'11' and somehow got up to 275. Back down to 210. Wanna be under 195 when I am done but the last 20 pounds are coming off slowly. My wife is 5'5" and weighs 120 so I felt even fatter next to her so I had plenty of motivation.

I quit for like 10 years, gained about 20 pounds and cholesterol level went up.
Then the wife got pregnant and I started smoking again, now I've lost the weight and the cholesterol level went down to normal and I have much more energy. In short I had to start smoking again to get healthy!

Yeah I highly recommend going on a diet or watching what you eat if you stop smoking. I had stopped once before and gained most of my weight when I did. The good thing was that I wanted pizza and a cheese burger so bad I didnt think about a cig.

I can definitely see me putting on weight once I quit if I don't exercise and watch what I eat. I was always in good shape until I got engaged, then married, then had kids. Now, I smoke more than ever! About a pack a day.

just envision the cig as a little dildo that youre sucking on in public.

Cold Turkey, it's the only way to do it.........

Stay away from the bars for a few weeks and by the time you go back the smell just makes you sick. I smoked years and years ago and that is how I did it. The only way.

I quit in Afghanistan cold turkey, while still having three cartons of smokes to my name. I guess I realized with all the assholes shooting at me, did I really need to be killing myself too. Smoked for 13 years, and haven't had one since 21 April, 2007. I also quit drinking, haven't had any alcohol since 25 July, 2008. But I still curse a lot and drive fast, LOL!!!

I tried quitting after I had an emergency appendectomy. The 2nd day in the hospital, I called my wife at 7am and asked her when she was coming...freakin nurse wouldn't wheel me downstairs and outside for a smoke. I almost broke a bylaw that day hahahaha. As you can tell, I need help. I'm thinking Champix/Chantix should do the trick.

I still smoke myself. I never really tried to quit before, cause I just haven't felt like its time yet. I only smoke a 1/2 a pack a day, so I've never been a heavy smoker. One day I'll quit, but things are just to hectic in my house for now.

I smoked for 20+ years and just decided it was time to quit. One day after my 40th birthday I quit and haven't had one since. Thats almost 6 years ago, I gained 35 pounds but I lost most of that last years since I joined the gym. I feel SO much better not smoking. I can taste food and everything smells better. Just think of the mod money you'll have if you quit... ;)

That's great Ken...didn't know that. If I quit, the money will probably go to paying off all the shit I've already done!:D
