So, I need some help here. A buddy of mine needs some help with money, and wants to sell his gun. I've been looking at a .40 for a bit now just cant decide on when to "pull the trigger" so to speak, but he needs help and is making me a hell of a deal I think.
Heres what he's got:
S&W Sigma .40
Shoulder Sling
2 Clips
Pacmyre Grips
170 Rounds (20 hollowpoint)
Case
and a few other small things.
$350 for the whole shebang.
Otherwise, i was looking at possibly a new or used Glock 23 or SA XD-40 that would be in the $480 and up range for either or.
Basically looking for a nice home defense gun that I can occassionally take to the range and putz around with.

Are you living with a significant other, cuz she( hopefull it is a she) can handle whatever you got too, so which can she handle otherwise it is about your preference if ya wanna wound the guy or kill him right?

i was gonna tell you to jump all over it .40 cal and 10mm are the best for home defense big enough projectile at a slow enough speed to knock someone on their ass whether its a fatal shot or not...what am i sayin...it will be fatal either way,lol..

if the gun is in good shape and hasn't been fired too many times 14+1 capacity in a .40 is bad ass plus all the ammo and holster. you would come out ok if you offered him $380 and dinner.....

his dad is giving him $500 for it until he can pay him back, so its not really an option for me anymore. I'll keep looking though!

your dad could still make $$ off it with all the goodies good luck to your friend...

sigs are absolutely deadly weapons as far as build quality and accuracy goes.

Well, I can get a new one for $350 after a $50 rebate, no accessories other than 2 clips, but I'm impatient and I want one now. I don't feel like waiting 48 hours to get one :(

Don't forget about a safety device/safe too. I've seen too many guns used in domestic violence instead of home defense.
A buddy of mine is starting a new business selling firearms. He has all of his permits etc. He's actually at a gun show in Vegas right now. So I know I'll be getting a new one at a sweet price soon! By the way, he swears by Sig so good choice.

DO NOT BUY A SIGMA WORST PISTOL EVER PRODUCED HANDS DOWN!!!!!
a sigma is NOT a sig, and at that price it's a total ripoff as well.
go with the glock or the xd. if you get the glock, replace the factory sites with a nice set of night sites, and never mention that piece of garbage s&w again

DO NOT BUY A SIGMA
WHY NOT???? I'm not gonna spend that on a new one, it was a good deal on a used one and I was helping a buddy out. I still want a Glock, SA XD or Ruger. Possibly an H&K but more than I want to spend unless I can find a good deal on a used one.

glock and springfield are cheaper and better than hk. having been issued glocks, sigs, and sigma's and hk's to carry in combat, i can tell you first hand that the sigma will fail you 9/10 times. it has a high failure rate, it's not even produced anymore, its accuracy is terrible and its trigger sometimes takes 2 fingers to pull. we're talking about your life here, don't compromise just to get a good deal. glock is the ak47 of pistols. it's the most durable, has the lowest failure rate and i can drag it through a mile of mud, pick it up and it'll fire flawlessly. my only gripe with them is the factory sites suck. xd's are just as good as glocks, some folks think they're better, thats all a personal matter. hk's are nice, but not $900 nice. i had one and sold it and now carry glock and kimber.

I like my taurus pt 24/7. extremely reliable...ive shot it quite a bit, and ill shoot the cheapest, nastiest ammo i can find. had one fte, literally 15 minutes after i bought it. opened the case and stepped into the range-didnt even clean the packing grease off...
ive got it in 9mm, but they are available in .40 also. i got the pro ds c....17+1 capacity, and still small enough to conceal.
Check the reviews for yourself....one of the professional reviews said something along the lines of "24/7 isnt just a name for this thing, its a measure of reliability-under any shooting conditions"

I know we are looking at a Glock 9mm. I am also looking at .357 double action Ruger too. I like the Sig's too and the HK P35L and 45 version too. (I think its a different number). I have shot the Glock and Sig and i love them both, unfortunately for me, my wife is a better shot than I am. :-)
Maybe Markus you can give me some pointers since you actually hunt and kill terrorists for a living...I wouldn't mind having all of these, besides its just me and my wife! I already know my dad is giving me all his guns when he decides to leave this plain of existence BUT thats not for quite a long time and I want guns NOW!!

I like 9's. Honestly, i bought the 9 because the owner of the gun store (a family friend) said 9mm was the only ammo he could keep in stock...and that turned out to be false....no one around here ever has anything in stock....so im considering picking up a .40 or a .45 for a personal protection gun, and a .22 for plinking.

If you're looking for a good gun for a lower cost, I'd recommend a Bersa Thunder Pro High-Capacity. I shot a 9mm one rented at a range, smooth, pretty accurate considering my shooting skills are as rusty as a tin lizzie sitting in the sun since 1912, and it was nice and ergonomic, I thought. I do have a bit bigger hands so it was a little better fit for me. It also comes in .40 s&w. $350. The 9mm has a 17+1 capacity. I don't remember the .40's cap off the top of my head, and you can google it, I'm being lazy right now.
