Well, I know not all of you are over on the "red" site, so I figured I'd share this with my MMF peeps. I installed a CMR tunewith my Predator from Diablosport in my rig this past Saturday, and it has now totally fucking fried my piece of shit PCM. SO, I'm ready to fucking kill people and am stuck with a 5,000lb paperweight in my fucking garage. I already feel better sharing this here because I can curse during it :yeah Long story short, diablosport has been totally unable to force back the stock tune, so tomorrow I arrange for a tow to the dealer and some repair work. Only good part is that the company that wrote the tune (as a favor to me I might add, I didn't even pay for it!) is standing behind their work and offering to pay for the repairs and even send the dealer a new PCM. So fuck me, it's only Monday and this has been the worst fucking week I've had in a while.

It is a bummer Steve, but man I am impressed with the tuner....especially since he was not charging you. wow, that is cool.

he is a good dude, no question! Most recent update is that I was able to speak with Mike L from DS today and he thinks there is a fairly easy fix for this and that the PCM is still ok, we'll see when I get home tonight and try to get the rig started again. If this fix fails, he has offered to re-flash the PCM at DS and will have UPS pick it up from me. If that happens, I will need some instructions from someone on removing my PCM :(

Newest update: Mike L's fix didn't do it. Andy is fedexing a new PCM to my dealer. I'll tow it tomorrow night and hopefully it'll be fixed Thursday. Fuck me

Sorry to hear about the PCM Steve, but at least you'll get a new one out of it. I know on the LX's, that the PCM is under the cowl vent on the passenger side. I believe all you do is unscrew it and disconnect a couple of connectors. Should be real simple to do.

no sweetheart, no guns were used to persuade anyone to fix my Jeep . . . at least not yet. . . and anyway, the sniper rifle is better for that (that way I don't get caught :D )

Thanks Pax, but I'm just going to have the dealer install and flash the new one for me. Still waiting for a solid answer on why this happened though!

Hey Steve. for what it is worth, I had read a few years ago, that repeatedly changing tunes too many times, that there was a chance the the pcm would brick. If that is true, then there is no fault with tuner or diablo. I am not saying it is your fault either cause I really dont know. Maybe someone else can chime in about the risk of changing tunes often. Also, when I change tunes, I always make sure that all accessories(radio, dome lights, bluetooth) are turned off, as to not interrupt the load. Anyway, got to admit, the exchange between Jeff and Mike on the red site is getting fun to watch...lol

I'm waiting for them to really ramp it up, I'd love for this "discussion" to lead to an answer as to why my truck shit the bed. As far as changing tunes too often, I can't believe that's the case, Wade has probably had 50 tunes on his truck and I've never done anything but a canned tune I changed maybe 1 or 2 times in 3 years, this CMR was my first ever attempt to get a custom tune installed. I've offered to send the PCM and pred to DS to diagnose, we'll see what they say

Are you sure you have to have it towed and you cant just take the pcm to the dealer to load your stock with vin#?

not sure, but I need service anyway and have an appointment for it tomorrow, so I'll just have the dealer do everything. The tow is covered by Geico, I think it cost me maybe $10 last time I needed it done.

Keep us updated bro. Although it's not specific to you or your truck (since you've only swapped tunes under 100 times lol), there are only so many write cycles to a pcm from what I understand but I thought that was in the 100's. Anyways, anyone have a link to the 'discussion' over at the Cherokee site? I love to read a good 'discussion'. Esp, if blown7 is involved. That's another story though.
