Unintended acceleration, Steve Wozniak's Prius (http://jalopnik.com/5461945/apple-co+founder-claims-toyota-prius-has-scary-software-problem-he-can-dupilcate?skyline=true&s=i) brake problems, unexpected veering and now video of a Lexus with a possessed steering wheel. More legendary Toyota build quality (http://jalopnik.com/tag/toyota-recall/) or beige biting back (http://jalopnik.com/tag/beige-bites-back/)?

Now, as far as we know, this IS350's issue could have been caused by the owner, a poster at My.IS. (http://my.is/forums/f126/p-s-power-steering-issues-ongoing-403887/) running over a herd of cats and not just a fundamental Toyota design flaw, but a user over at the forum Club Lexus (http://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-second-generation/471719-urgent-need-help-steering-problem-2.html) currently has the same problem. There was a courtesy campaign (i.e. a non-recall recall) for IS model power steering but, according to a tech on the site, this didn't involve replacing the sensor that could be causing this problem. Given Toyota's recent track record, we bet this clip will be causing a national scandal on CNN within the hour.
Anyone have any idea what could cause this?

Fuck that thing!

I'd accidentally drive that thing through their dealership showroom!

I think we need to go back to people being in total control of their vehicle! Enough of the drive by wire, shift by wire, brake by wire crap. I like throttle cables and trans linkages and peddles and controls that are actually connected to what they are controlling.

They can't get to work....cause they all drive a Toyota Prius and the executives that make the decisions all drive a Lexus! :hehe3:

Toyota could only hide these issues for so long. I started seeing quality and programming issues with a few of their models a couple of years ago. It was only a matter of time.

its all programming issues. The issues with the prius braking, the lexus steering (which is electric , not hydraulic. Its a joke but as a ford and dodge guy i love it. I know first hand in my career that forgetting a single bolt can kill the family and the car they are in and it takes more anti anxiety and anti depressant pills then you can imagine for me to stay doing what i'm doing. For every cari might make a mistake on i've done 300 successfully and may have saved lives in the process. Its a thankless career field but i know at the end of the day 95% of the cars i worked on i did everything i could to do it right and help that family> i'd be rolling over in my bed between the anti depressants and the loaded 9 had i been a toyota tech right now.
