I see a few 08 TBSS's left on the lots. They are taking $10K to $12k off sticker on them. Thats puts a few I have seen around $26k. Almost too good a deal to pass up. Only question I have is what drivetrain does everyone recomend? I wont be doing any winter driving just didnt know if the AWD would help get the power to the ground a little better.

It goes unsaid AWD will out launch a RWD LS2.....If I was you, AWD would be the way for me.

Coming from a jeep SRT owner, I'd have to say go with awd. You just can't beat the launch with it.
Do you plan on modding the tbss? If not, why not go with a Jeep SRT8? Sorry, I had to recommend my rig. Good luck with your decision.

I agree with Ryan...I'd go for the AWD for sure. You've already got an SRT8 that'll fry the tires at will so I'd opt for the AWD and get something that can launch hard off the line. I'm still wishing I bought the Jeep at times so I can launch like a MOFO.

Thanks bro...I wish I had a Jeep at times. I've been in a 426 stroker Jeep at HHP and that thing was freakin' sick...scared the shit out of me off the line when Josh brake stalled it at 2800rpms and let it go! I wasn't prepared for that!

I know what you mean paxton....well, minus the 426 part...whenever I get someone new in my car and I get a stop sign or a light I let her rip and everytime the people in the car say holy shit or wow! Or something of the like followed by "this is a jeep?" and I reply yup. With a huge grin on my face.

Show me an AWD cutting 1.3x sixty foots and then I'd recommend them. Until then, RWD!

Thanks for all the opinions. I have read that the rwd is faster than the awd. As for the Jeep SRT I really like them but the TBSS is alot cheaper and if I do wanna go fast can be modded for less.

I am a complete AWD fan, both of my rides are AWD, and I don't know that I will ever go back to anything else!!!

Yes, it is cheaper to mod the TBSS....as far as price goes, a slightly experienced 07 can be had for around the same price as your TBSS....

Lets throw this little debate out there...hehehe. Stock for stock the JCSRT8 is quicker than the TBSS, so it might depend on how much money your going to spend on modding either vehicle. Lets say that your only going to spend 3K in modding either vehicle...I would think the JCSRT8 would be the quicker ride IMO.

2WD definitely... after seeing/reading about all of the issues the AWD SS's were having, I wouldn't recommend getting an AWD version...

Just another reason to go ahead and get a slightly used JCSRT8!:D

I went with AWD. The difference is in normal driving, rain, sand, corners are full throttle without kicking the rear out. I must also say, with my tune on it the thing launches hard as hell. Put a converter in and it's even better.

I put the same tune on a few 2WD's and they spin. Top end, 2WD has less drag than AWD, that's because the Chevy is a mechanical transfer case with more drive line loss, not much difference though. BTW: The Jeep is electronic and acts a little different, has less AWD torque transfer, and less losses, than the Chevy.

Great comparison Billy. 2wd is great if all you are doing is drag racing and run drag radials. Try beating an AWD TBSS or GCSRT8 out of the hole on street tires in any conditions other than perfect and you wont stand a chance. Dirt, sand, water, snow etc....AWD is going to be superior as a DD.

I'm old school, 2wd for me,nothing a set of drag rads wont take care of, If snow is not an issue the 2wd is lighter and quicker..just a little..........

I have an 08 2wd and it's my dd. I live in Michigan and drove it all winter, had some probs in the snow but not to bad. A guy at work had an AWD TBSS and I beat him every time we raced, both were stock. 2wd for the win, in my opinion.
