View Full Version : Nitto NT05: Street R Compound Tire, 200 Treadwear
Here is a new (available early 2009) tire from Nitto that looks real good! Comes in many sizes including 275/40/20. They are W rated, 200 treadwear, AA traction. I think this will be a tire a lot of people are going to get excited about...including me.

Nitto Tire U.S.A., Inc., announces the release of its new summer max performance tire, the NT05. The NT05 is Nitto’s most aggressive non-competition street tire. The tire gets its name from the fusion of two existing tires: the NT01, Nitto’s D.O.T.-approved R-compound, and the NT555, Nitto’s popular UHP tire. The name signifies that the tire is based on the NT01’s award-winning race technology but designed specifically for maximum street performance.
Cypress, CA (PRWEB) November 4, 2008 -- Nitto Tire U.S.A., Inc., announces the release of its new summer max performance tire, the NT05.
Nitto’s top priority was to optimize dry performance. To achieve this, Nitto’s engineers used the most advanced computer simulation and extensive on-track testing to identify the optimal tread design and compound. The large, continuous center rib and big outer shoulder blocks provide optimum tread contact with the road and the reinforced tread blocks provide exceptional rigidity and stability. These tread features help provide crisp turn-in, excellent steering feedback, and stability under braking; all of which contribute to boosting driver confidence. The result is a tire that responds instantly to your steering, acceleration and braking inputs, inspiring confidence and keeping you connected to the road.
The NT05 will be available in the most popular sizes for high-performance vehicles. Several sizes will be available first quarter 2009 with additional sizes released throughout the year.

I might give these a try when the Invo's wear out if they are not a lot more expensive than the Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas.

It's all about balance....It may have groves, er, grooves, er whatever, but it makes up for it in compound/sticky-ness.

I'm really excited about these tires. They are a great summer tire. A guy who's opinion I really trust (especially about tires) over at Charger Forums (GHLS87) just switched from the V's to these. He say's he loves them...even more than the V's. He says they handle great. He was given a set as a tester prior to them being released to the public.

I still don't get how a tire with huge water channels like that can stick so good. THOSE CHANNELS ARE HUGE!!!! It's like a 275 width tire is really 255!! WHERE'S THE TREAD!?!?
Alright, alright, I'll stop. RICK, I expect a fully detailed report on these bad boys soon buddy, you're the expert!!!!!!

I was being sarcastic to Milan I guess it did not go over well my bad. Anyway those fuggers are expensive even thru discounttiredirect they were $1,060 so I opted for the Vreds in 275/40/20 and 315/35/20 $745 shipped

Haha....I kinda figured it was a pot shot!! You know how I feel about the V's. You can't go wrong with them. They are a much better tire then my Invo's. It will be a hard choice for me when I'm ready to replace these POS Invo's.

holy shit that things got revines in it
Steve, the Invo's are a good tire. And for what you use them for it's probably a good choice. I won't ever get another staggered setup for my SRT8 again though. You know the way I drive and the balance got all discombobulated by doing a stagger. Even with increasing the front pressures a good deal it still understeers a good bit.

I drive like your grandmas mom around here....the police know me by my first name...and the god damn car is RED so it doesnt help hahahahaha
I have 2 reasons for wanting 245's in the front....
#1) Looks....believe me when i tell you that no one is as anal (have fun with that one gents) about things as I am LOL
#2) and I dont even know how much this matters but....smaller tire up front...less contact area....less weight....better for driving in a straight line really fast LOL
