Last night, fellow Detroit Examiner Michael Velardo (click here for his column (http://www.examiner.com/x-8358-Detroit-Substance-Abuse-Examiner)) sent me a few shots that he caught of this heavily disguised sedan cruising through Detroit. He wasn’t able to get a front shot of the car but from the pictures provided, it looks to be a next generation Dodge Charger. I’ve stared at the pictures for hours now and there is really no other car from GM, Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai or Honda that carries this large, boxy shape and there are enough similarities to make me think that it is a Charger, but enough differences to make me think that this is a next generation Charger.

</noscript> <!-- End of StatCounter Code --> The heavy camo leaves a great deal to the imagination but the roofline, rear window line and the short look of the trunk lid looks a great deal like the current Dodge Charger wearing a spoiler (like the one found on the current SRT8). If you look closely at the long side shots, it looks like the front fenders swoop down into the fascia – which is something we have already seen in spyshots of the new Charger caught with the cover off. However, the lines of the rear door windows appears to be very different from the current Charger and in some of the pictures there is an obvious side marker light that is not on the current Charger.
A few things are unusual about this particular test mule that leads me to believe that some effort was made to throw people off. There is a police spotlight on the a-pillar and it looks like there is something running across the back of the front seats – perhaps this is a police package mule, but why the chrome rims and spoiler? This very well could be a normal Hemi-powered (check out the dual exhaust) 2012 Charger mule with a police light added to confuse people and the shots of the car braking is where the shots prove to be the most interesting.
