View Full Version : AMG Paddle Shifter Installer Recommendations

I purchased the shifters a few months ago but the installer fell through. I've got the paddles and the wiring harness, and instructions. What would be any appropriate type of shop to take these to for installation? I wasn't sure if a stereo installation place or somewhere like Stack Performance would be a good choice. Any recommendations, or anyone that knows of a shop in the SOCAL area that could get it done would be appreciated. - Rick

Try contacting Junior.. He's done more of these than anyone I know. He did the write up...

AMG paddle shifters? This is news to us Jeep guys (at least to me), if they are compatible with your 6.1, they should work with mine, no? More info please!!!!!!

Here are the guys over at LX forums that got the ball rolling. Bottom line is they found out that the AMG paddle shifters are a great fit for the cars. PLCman developed a few really good wiring harness kits that he put together. There are multiple threads about it and the below links will guide you to other ones as well.

What fell through? Ralph has been waiting for you to get back to him. Just let him know, he and/or I will take care of it.

Thanks Adam. I just talked with Ralph on the phone. I didn't want to bug you guys seeing as how big of an install it is....and you guys do enough for me already! Ralph mentioned that maybe you two could tackle it on Monday. If so, I'll be there! Thanks again Adam! Merry Christmas - Rick

Carl lives in the Phoenix area. Momo's been AWOL for the past couple months. He showed his head for a couple posts last night over at your alma-mata (figuratively speaking). He's decided not to mod much for the time being and I think it's deflated his desire to get on the forums where he'll see everyone modding their cars! LOL

Yes, that's right..Phoenix. Momo needs to plan for next year haha. It's all good.

As for the Jeep guys, best way to find out is to contact Junior or PLCman about it but like anything else, I doubt it works for you. You're a special breed that's for sure lol.

There are quite a few folks over at LX forum that have them installed and are loving them. I found a great couple of really capable auto dudes here in San Diego that are going to do the install for me!

Paddling between 2nd and 3rd the whole time without taking your hands of the wheel.
Brilliant!

Hey Rick, so did you get these installed or what?? I'm seriously thinking bout doing them but would have to do it myself and I'm not sure. Did you find someone to do yours or did you do it yourself? I have to review more but it's not the steering wheel part that scares me, it's pulling the whole center console to get to the tranny to do the wiring that does! So where you at on the install??

Scotty, I had it done the first week in December. I paid Ralph (MOL) to do it since he is really competent with this kind of stuff. It took him about 4 hours and he did an awesome job. I absolutely love them. It's all I use when driving the car. For me, and how much I go do mountain fun runs, it has given the car an entirely new feel. Ralph (MOL), Jason (Momo) have both driven it and love it as well. I really wish the car came with this from the factory. I think you'll love it if you do it!

Hmmm, any idea on how difficult it was to install? Could any licenced mechanic probably do it? I can see the car being a lot more fun to drive with these....and I just may consider it now.

Thanks a lot brotha! I don't think I'm as adventurous as Chris was though..that would take me days to get there lol.. That and the wife being left with the 2 rugrats wouldn't bode well for me...not yet anyways.

And that fugger never finshed up posting about his trip either!! What a hole. He had a great story going (with the cop pulling him over and letting him go) but never finished it and I even pm'd him 100 times trying to get him too, what a tool!
