View Full Version : Why I'm glad I live in the South and not the North!!

After my trip last week, I have a little more love for the South.

Main reason.... the salt on the roads. I rented a 2008 4Runner which I have to say is a really nice truck. I was very impressed with the ride and the TC of the 4WD system.

After picking it up it was a nice shiney clean white..... after getting to the resort.... HOLY CRAP!! The thing looked like it aged 12 years! I now know why alot of you guys put your SRT8's "up" for the winter. If I had to drive my Jeep around and get that nasty I think I'd cry or never leave the house. Not to mention all the damn wiper fluid I went though!! I am kind of a freak when it comes to a clean windshield but it was getting rediculous.

Driving the 4Runner around was great, but after my fiasco and had to rent a Honda Oddy van, I missed the 4WD!! Even thought the Oddy had TC, it was so far from safe feeling I hated it. My wife has an Oddy Touring and this was the basest of base models and wow, what a difference. I can't believe it didn't have the damn ECONOMY mode in it where it shuts off 3 cyclinders for cruising like hers does. Cheap bas****s!

I defintely have a greater appreciation for "Yankee's". You guys have a lot of chit to put up with in the winter time for sure. Granted I WAS driving around in one nasty gnarley storm that came though and dumped 8" of snow, but still, hat's off to you guys for being troopers. Me....... I'm liking my mid 70's right now a whole lot more!!:obscene:

Ouch that sucks Stevo. My ride is safe and sound in the garage and holed up for the freakin' winter. I miss it so. I'm driving the wife's AWD Pacifica today and that thing is awesome...I reallyc an't see how it could get stuck in the amounts of snow we get which normally isn't too bad. We've probably had about a foot of snow in the last 7-8 days though. Hate it. Just saw a flight on Spirit Air, leaving for Ft. Lauderdale the week of Jan.21st for 8 bucks! Problem is finding the return flight.

There's a reason it's so cheap...... you won't want to leave after being down here for a while vs. up there in the FREEZING cold!:D It was a nice big difference going from the 4wd in the 4Runner to the 2wd Honda Van. Crazy what a FWD in snow does. It was actually kinda fun, but more scarry due to my kids being in the car with me. I now know why I saw so many damn Audi's and Subaru's!!

It looks like at one point the garage was converted into a living area.

None the less a garage in deed is in need!!
My truck scoffs at me if I leave it outside over night.
(aka - To drunk to try and pull it into the garage!)
If it got hit with that shit it wouldn't start for a week just out of spite!

consider yourself lucky. We got a total of about 26 inches in 4 days. Friday was 13 inches, then sat through wed was another 12-14 inches combined.

I normaly dont mind the snow, but it owned my shit this morning! The first time I take my V out in a month, and I'm burried in my driveway with about 12-14" of snow around it...:puke: Luckily the pole barn is just about done and I can just park my car behind it untill its ready. Up untill now I've been leaving whichever car I wasn't driving at work, so I had to call for a ride to work this morning... If I had thought about it a little more, I should have just rode my snowmobile into work today:tantrum1:
