Boost is addicting...I'm saving for a forged bottom end and T trim head unit now. It never ends. You're going to love it. I can't keep the rear wheels planted with anything over 50% throttle.

I went to the track a few weeks ago, but I was having some boost leak problems. When it was under full boost, it was like driving an ice skate. Spun and swung out on every shift the whole way down the track.

I'm all for more power and everything, but how will that help you in your case if you can't put it down? Seriously, I'm not being a smart ass, but may follow your same footsteps.

I'm working on it. Here's my list to get it to the ground. Now if my wife wasn't laid off 4 months ago, it would all be done.
1) Limited slip differential
2) 1000 HP half shafts
3) wider rear wheels and tires

My buddy has a Vortech with Quaife, axles, and 11 inch wide rears. What a difference! His car is a blast to drive and has much better control than mine.

I'm not sold on a low boost supercharger, non forged bottom end, on a 4200 lb car. You can get more bang for the buck (retail) with a bunch of other mods. Any one remember my runs with Stretch, diegochrysler, and MotherMopar? Also, I don't buy the part about losing traction since "most" blowers don't start boosting at around 3500 rpms (1 lb?). I think the cold weather has more to do with that than anything seeing that I have a hard time getting traction this time of year. I'm by no means bashing Vortech or any other supercharger, but it has been proven to me that with the weight of the LX platform and low boost isn't a great bang for the buck! Flame away!!!

The forged bottom end comes next year ;)...then a heads/blower cam package sometime after that :)

no argument here big papa....which is why this is only party 1 :)....

Part 2 (as seen above) is forging this bitch and upping the boost to about 15ish? anyone...anyone? hahahaha

Part 3 (again as seen above) is a heads/cam package....then I am pretty much done with the car and will be a happy camper....

of course my HS TC will go in soon along with the halfshafts :)...next ill have to decide on tires :)

Wow, how little you know about what you're bashing. Sorry Rick, but the bang for the buck is definitely there. As you know, the Vortech stock tune isn't very good. I challenge you to run your little infamous "test" against John's ride now that its tuned well. By the way, Vortech starts making boost at 2000 RPMS and the boost definitely breaks traction. How else would I be barking the 3-4 shift? I know you can't.

As "I" said I wasn't bashing...just going off of what "I" have personally experienced with the kits. I'd love to do the test with John. I really do hope he is seeing some great gains with the car tuned. As far as you barking the 3-4 shift, I think a little of that has to do with your cam...don't you think? Or was it the rain the past few days that caused the bark? :tongueout:

my 2 cent ...... a properly set up single or TT system trumps all in bang for buck, longevity, and mpg for daily driver duties (i see 30+mpg) highway. In my findings properly setup turbo systems are just way more efficient at making power. Personally I average 30+hp/per lb. of boost. I base lined @ 340whp, and at only 2 psi I made 405whp.
5psi and 2* timing(490whp)
6psi (523whp)
9psi (610whp).....

Both s/c and turbos have there woe's ..... s/c's belts slip and turbos have boost leaks. But when running right turbos offer much more. Load dependant power instead of rpm dependent. Sumtimes u need "a lil bit" of lag to help with traction. Most cars cant utilize 100 percent hp and tq right off the batt (1000rpm)
