I've got to say though that there never seemed to be a point at which Edmunds was obviously excited about anything...The article reads like they were satisfied but generally underwhelmed overall.

I think the bar was set a long time ago by DC and the LX...that and they probably can't get the new CTS-V drive out of memory, lol.

I was just at the GM dealership for service and I asked a salesperson about the GXP. He said with the economy in its current state that he didn't think GM was going to build it. It appears that this car could give alot of srt's a run for their money..

I think they still may produce it and it'll be quick for sure. They launch pretty good. Hell, the G8 GT's with a few mods are formidable.

I wish my wife dug this car. We'd own it in the spring if she did. I would love to have the wife driving a four-door hotrod as well. I know with a little exhuast and an intake, she'd get bit by the "mod bug" too!!! I will have to make this test drive happen..........

Interesting news...

Incentives, incentives, incentives. That's the name of the game at all of the major carmakers these days, and in many cases, it's paying off. Take the Pontiac G8 for example: despite a market that's off over 40%, the G8 sedan saw its best sales ever last month - over double the number sold in January.

The final tally for February was 2,707 of the roomy sedans sold, up 1,376 from the 1,331 sold in January, and up 27% from the previous best sales month for the car, which happened in April, 2008.

At the same time, General Motors' overall sales fell over 50% against February 2008 to just 53,813 cars. Nevertheless, the high sales numbers for the high-value - and in GT and GXP trims, high-performing - sedan hint that the future may not be as bleak as it had seemed just a few short months ago.

You do have to wonder, however, how much money Pontiac is actually making after about $3,000 in incentives on each car.

I have one of these back in Oz. It is the HSV clubsport version. They are taken from the factory, given a body kit, touch the engine up, and stiffent the ride. These things fucking hammer. I love my car. Small block with a 6 speed. They look good for a 4 door as well. I have seen a few around and if they released them with the SS Commodore or clubsport body kit these would walk out the door. also the front end treatment on them really doesnt do it any justice im my eyes. And i know i am biased.

And while you are in there have a look at the ute version. this was going to be the el camino here. This is a sweet looking car and drives like a shower of shit.

^^^ Those are sweet cars J. I like the front end a lot and it doesn't remind me of the Gran Prix's which is a bonus. I heard the ute version made by Pontiac has been abandoned, or, at the very least, put on hold. Seems to me we have a few spy shots on here with one of them on a hauler somewhere.

i thought the ute version of the commodore was going to be the chev el camino. its a shame as it is a sweet ride. here is the holden one and the falcon version below.
